"STEP OUT OF THE NORM AND INTO PURPOSE!"

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

It’s time for “Water Walking Faith” – at least Peter tried!

Devotional by: Patricia A. Schley

Matthew 14: 28-29

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

At least Peter tried, and he did walk – until distractions and fear came and captured his attention; then he began to sink.

In this deeply distressed and troubled world, we are being thrust into dire situations where we must keep our focus and God’s Righteousness. Therefore, we must know who God is as we discern and flow with His Spirit.

Stepping out of the Norm (our comfort zones) and into Purpose means total surrender, trust and obedience to God and to do His Will (that shall be done); and to crucify our own will so that it will “no longer be done.” God will take care of our desires and our needs – All we have to do is seek the Lord first, and His righteousness; and all things (that are rightfully ours) shall be added unto us (read Matthews 6:33).

There will be situations that God will allow us to be placed in and those places may not be comfortable or imaginable; but yet, every step of the way we’ll have to trust God even when the situations do not look stable nor doable (Read Proverbs 3:5-6). There is going to be things that God will have us to do or say that will be totally out of our norm. Some things we will question ourselves and God because we just can’t comprehend it nor can we find a scripture to even confirm it. But, if we know God’s Spirit we’ll know it’s Him—we will know for sure because we will see God’s Characteristics in every aspect of our situations (His attributes, qualities, traits, features, points, powers, elements -- Fruit of the Spirit).

In the Book of Job (11:7), God asked Job, "Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?, There is no end to Almighty God as to what He can do; or whatever He wants to do; or through whomever He wants to do it through, so hold on and don’t sink when distractions and fear come (before, during and after situations). There are many things that Jesus did, while walking this earth, which we will not know about until we see Him or until we trust (or experience) Him while we’re still here on earth, able to assist Him. So do not limit God to do what you are only familiar with. In the Book of St. John 21:25 it reads: And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. (WOW!)

God asked Mary (Jesus’ Mother, a virgin) to assist him in a miracle – to carry and birth the Messiah; and we all know that this particular supernatural act will not occur again; but, while we’re still in this dark and wicked world, during these last and evil days, there will be other miracles, signs and wonders that you and I may be asked (by God) to assist Him with; and when we do them, they will propel us into Purpose. “Are You Ready to Step out of the Norm and Into Purpose?”
